2025 MINT CFF: Call for Festival Volunteers

🎬 Join the 2025 MINT Chinese Film Festival (MINT CFF) Team! 🎬

Are you passionate about Chinese cinema and culture? Are you excited to be part of the team in creating the unique festival atmosphere of MINT CFF? We are calling for passionate and enthusiastic festival volunteers who share a love for Chinese cinema and culture to join us in preparing for the festival from now until February 2025!

The 2025 3rd MINT CFF will take place from February 21 to 23, 2025, at the festival's hub—Keswick Alhambra Cinema in the picturesque town of Keswick, located in the Lake District of Northern England, as well as other local arts and cultural venues.

 

📢 Volunteer Opportunities (Remote):

   •  Film Programming

   •  Marketing

   •  Graphic Design

This is your opportunity to support the launch of the latest edition of MINT CFF, while developing your skills and unlocking your potential.

 

📅 Commitment:

   •  Work cycle: Late December 2024 – End of February 2025

   •  Minimum 40 hours of remote work over the period.

   •  Specific schedules:

·       Film Programming: Key tasks between 26 December – 18 January, with additional work in early February.

·       Marketing: Flexible, ad-hoc tasks spread from late December to February.

·       Design: Immediate start preferred for successful candidates.

📌 Film Programming:

   •  Assist in reviewing and evaluating film submissions.

   •  Write curatorial notes and prepare interview questions.

   •  Support the festival team with other curation-related tasks.

📌 Festival Marketing:

   •  Help with festival promotional activities and the creation of promotional materials.

   •  Conduct media and audience research.

   •  Assist with copywriting and social media content.

📌 Graphic Design:

   •  Collaborate with the festival team and lead visual designer to create promotional materials.

   •  Contribute to the design and production of visual assets for the festival.

 

📌 Additional Information:

   •  Volunteers should apply for one primary position but may express interest in other positions if they can guarantee sufficient time to complete all tasks for their primary role. The festival team will coordinate and release tasks for additional roles as needed.

   •  In special circumstances, volunteers may coordinate with the festival team to adjust their responsibilities as appropriate.

You are welcome to include a recent photography or graphic design portfolio in your application.

📌 Position Matching:

We will match you with the role that best suits your skills, interests, and experience. You can apply for one primary position or indicate interest in multiple roles if you’re confident about managing additional responsibilities.

 

What We’re Looking For:

   •  Language Skills:

        •    Native Chinese speaker and fluent in English, or bilingual in Chinese and English.

   •  Educational Background:

        •    Preference for students at UK universities.

        •    Applications are also welcome from students at European or Chinese universities, and GAP year students.

   •  Passion and Interests:

        •    Enthusiasm for film, festivals, Chinese and Asian culture.

        •    Interest in learning hands-on about managing creative projects.

        •    Experience in film festivals or arts and cultural events is a plus but not required.

   •  Technical Skills:

        •    Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace (Google Drive).

        •    For graphic design roles, strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite and especially Photoshop are required.

   •  Communication Skills:

        •    Strong oral and written communication skills in Chinese and/or English.

   •  Organizational Skills:

        •    Highly organized, good at multitasking, and capable of managing time.

        •    Flexible thinker with the ability to provide quick solutions to problems.

        •    Responsible and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
