Travel to Keswick
We would encourage participants to use public transport to attend our Festival.
The nearest railway station to Keswick is Penrith, 17 miles from Keswick
To get times and from London (Euston), Manchester, St Andrews, Lancaster, Liverpool – check with Trainline route planner for times, fares and details.
For travel from Leeds, mainline trains are available, but there is also a famous scenic route via the historic Settle to Carlisle Railway which travels over the Yorkshire Moors and the Ribblehead Viaduct. This would then require a change of trains at Carlisle to get to Penrith.
The West Coast Main Line, run by Avanti, offers group discounts if 3 or more people are travelling together, and students are able to get significant discounts on trains in the UK with a Student or 16-25 Railcard
The Stagecoach X5 bus run from Penrith Station to Keswick every hour at 20 minutes past the hour and takes 40 minutes. Tickets are just £2 for all bus journeys - you can plan your journey between Penrith Rail Station and Keswick Bus Station here. Taxis from Keswick will meet trains at Penrith by prior arrangement. Depending on numbers, we may be able to arrange minibus transport for Festival attendees if many of you are arriving at Penrith station at the same time – email us on info@keswickalhambra.co.uk if you are travelling as a group and we may be able to help make arrangements.

Accommodation in Keswick
There is a wide range of rented accommodation in Keswick including hostels, AirB&B, guest houses and hotels. Booking direct with the provider via their own website, or the Keswick Tourist Association means the local businesses get more value from your booking!
We are seeking special offers for attendees and will advertise these on this page as they emerge.
If you want to secure the cheapest possible accommodation, and are happy to share a single-sex dormitory accommodation (2-6 per room), we have a block booking at the lovely Keswick YHA just five minutes walk from the cinema. The YHA has recently been refurbished. It has an excellent small café and also a kitchen where guests can cook their own meals. Contact Carol on info@keswickalhambra.co.uk if you want to take up this option (£30 per night).
